My first ESSAY in 12 years!
So I'm back in college, right? I'm taking an english class, sure... to fulfill my transfer requirement. It's critical thinking. Woo hoo, we do that all day long. Here's the kicker. The teacher gives us this article on school uniforms and asks us to write an essay stating 3 assumptions of the author and NOT give our opinion about the subject! How easy is that, right? Ha. So there I sit, pencil in hand, trying to write an essay after a 12 year drought and trying NOT to give my opinion. I manage to get it done and turned in, thinking all the while I'll suffer with a "D" or and "F" when she returns it. But I am shocked to see I actually get an "A-"! Could have knocked me over with a feather. I guess maturity helps when you go back to college! Woo Hoo!

Just wanted to share.
Whenever I'm in a reflective mood, I think about this wonderful poem. It's one of my favorites.
Daffodils (1804)
I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed -- and gazed -- but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
By William Wordsworth (1770-1850)
